Mayor Keith R. Sydnor and the City of Laurel are pleased to announce the Safe Summer Nights Program, which is designed to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for youth during the summer months.
The program kicks off on Saturday, July 13, 2024, and will be held at the Laurel Armory Anderson & Murphy Community Center, located at 422 Montgomery Street, Laurel, Maryland. City residents, ages 12-16, are welcome to attend. Participants will enjoy enriching activities such as sports, arts, education, games, arts & crafts, and other exciting activities hosted by various local businesses.
“Our overarching goal is to create an environment where our youth can have fun while learning and growing,” says Mayor Keith R. Sydnor. “The program promotes community engagement by bringing together youth, families, local organizations, and law enforcement in a positive and collaborative environment; offers youth development through mentorship, counseling, and skill-building activities; and helps to reduce crime and violence by creating a safe space for our children during the hours of 6 pm to 10 pm.”
