Have some extra time on your hands? New to Laurel? Need Community Service Hours? Want to give back to your community?

In recognition of Volunteer Week, April 16th – 22nd, Mayor Craig A. Moe and the Laurel City Council invite you to the City of Laurel Volunteer Fair on April 19th, from 6:00 – 8:00pm, at the Laurel Municipal Center, 8103 Sandy Spring Road.

The fair will offer residents an opportunity to learn about a variety of ways they can help in their community; to equip, enlist, and encourage Laurel residents to commit a portion of their time to serve others; and bring awareness to the volunteer opportunities offered by the City of Laurel.

City Departments will speak about what available opportunities they have from Administrative work to openings on Commissions and Boards. We also have openings for election judges, which are paid positions, to work on Early Voting Day and Election Day, being held in November 2023. And finally, we will feature a new opportunity from Economic and Community Development, the Main Street Committee.

Raffle prizes from Laurel Parks and Recreation for day passes to the Laurel Pool and free paddle boat rides will be drawn, speak one-on-one with each Department to learn more about their volunteer needs and refreshments will be available to quench those hunger pangs.

Finally, if you or a student you know is looking for Community Service Hours, we will be offering a chance to fulfill some of those hours by having attendees stuff Emergency Kits for the Laurel Advocacy and Referral Services event being held April 22nd. Make sure to bring your school form for us to sign and you will get guaranteed Service Hours!

This event is free and open to all! For more information, contact Carreen Koubek at 301-725-5300 ext. 2109 or email her at Look forward to seeing you in April!
