The City of Laurel is gearing up for their 2nd Annual No Mow April! Mayor Keith R. Sydnor and the Environmental Affairs Committee invite you to the No Mow April Kickoff event that will be held on March 18, 2024, at 6:30pm in the Council Chambers of the Joseph R. Robison Laurel Municipal Center, 8103 Sandy Spring Road.
This is an initiative that supports residents to cut back on mowing their lawns for the month of April to aid in creating a welcome environment for pollinators to thrive.
At this event, residents can:
- Learn about creating a pollinator-friendly habitat using native plants from the PG County Audubon Society.
- Purchase native plants from local nurseries like Millie’s Farms and Chesapeake Natives.
- Sign up for the curbside organics recycling program.
- And register/pick up your No Mow April yard sign!

This campaign is part of the City of Laurel’s Bee City USA initiative. This initiative aims to make the City of Laurel more pollinator friendly. And by participating, you will not only increase their food source, but you will also avoid disturbing the beneficial insects that hide in the dead leaves and lawns.
