Public Works Construction Debris and Scrap Metal Drop Off, Saturday June 29th

The Department of Public Works will be hosting a Construction Debris and Scrap Metal Drop Off Event on Saturday, June 29th from 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the Fairall Foundry Public Works building at 305 First Street.  Please enter the yard through our Little Montgomery Street entrance located off of US Route 1.

Construction Debris

We be accepting remodeling debris such as drywall, scrap wood/lumber, dry paint cans, and broken tiles. We will not be accepting most wet chemicals such as gasoline, pesticides, or hazardous materials such as roof shingles.

Scrap Metal

We will be accepting scrap metal items such as old bikes, lawn mowers (emptied of gasoline), metal countertop appliances, car rims, and metal sinks.  We will not be accepting white goods such as refrigerators, ovens, or washing machines.

Old Paint Recycling

Yuck Old Paint will be on site to collect cans of old latex paint, oil-based paint, and wood stains – wet or dry! However, this drop-off is not free. Paint and stain will cost $5 per quart or 1 gallon container, $10 per 5-gallon container. Paint must be in its original container. Yuck can accept cash, check, or charge (credit and debit).

The charge is to facilitate Yuck’s mission: Good, reusable paint is distributed to international humanitarian construction projects, stateside theater groups and local licensed contractors. Paint that is not usable is appropriately processed for proper legal disposal per Virginia DEQ regulations so that it is no longer a threat to the water and soil tables.

Public Works will be verifying that you are a City resident or City business so please bring a driver's license or mail addressed to your City business.  Not all addresses in "Laurel, Maryland" are in the City Limits so please verify you live within the City Limits if you plan to attend.  North Laurel, Montpelier, South Laurel, West Laurel, the Russett, and Maryland City are not in the City limits and will be turned away at the gate.
