Bring Your Bag Campaign Kicks Off at the Polls in Laurel

News - Press Releases Posted on October 24, 2023

In anticipation of the updated plastic bag legislation effective January 1, 2024, the City of Laurel will have reusable bags available to residents when they stop in to vote!

While supplies last, bags will be distributed at the polls at the Robert J. DiPietro Community Center (7901 Cypress Street) and the Joseph R. Robison Laurel Municipal Center (8103 Sandy Spring Road) for Early Voting and Election Day.

Early voting takes place on November 4th. Polls open at 9 am and close at 5 pm.

Same day voting takes place on Tuesday, November 7th. The polls are open from 7 am to 8 pm on Election Day.

In January, all retailers are required to charge at least ten cents for paper bags. The Bring your Bag Campaign aims to get residents to take a reusable bag with them when they shop to avoid the fee.
