City of Laurel Board of Election Supervisors Announces Revised Official Election Results for 2025

(November 6, 2025) - On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, the City of Laurel Board of Election Supervisors completed the recount of the 2025 General Election. All in-person machine ballots from Early Voting and Election Day, as well as mail-in and provisional ballots were reviewed and counted.

 In accordance with the City of Laurel Charter, a mandatory recount was required when the margin between the two highest vote-getting candidates is less than three (3) percent of the total votes cast for that office. Based on the unofficial results, the margins in the City Council, At-Large race fell within that threshold.

 On November 6, 2025 at 9:00 am the Board of Election Supervisors conducted a hand count of additional mail-in ballots that had been timely received in accordance with the prescribed statute to add them to the final totals to be certified and presented to the Mayor and City Council. The revised official results are:

 City Council, Ward 2

  • Kyla M. Clark – 493
  • Jeffrey W. Mills – 452
  • Write-In – 17

 City Council, At-Large

  • Brencis D. Smith – 641
  • Christine M. Johnson – 621
  • Write-In – 3

 The results will be certified during the Special Mayor and City Council Meeting on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., at the Joseph R. Robison Laurel Municipal Center, 8103 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, Maryland 20707. The meeting is open to the public and will be broadcast live on LaurelTV.org, YouTube (@LaurelTVOfficial), and Laurel TV on Comcast (71/SD, 996/HD), and Verizon (Channel 12).
