PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
SCAM ALERT!
We have received multiple calls from residents who have been called from a number made to look like our Non-Emergency line, 301-498-0092. The caller then identifies themselves as a police officer by stating a name and badge number and proceeds to inform the person on the line that they have open warrants that must be paid for immediately. The caller attempts to collect money through detailed instructions.
THIS IS A SCAM, the Laurel Police Department will never call to collect money of any sort over the phone or via the internet.
Please report it to us immediately if you receive one of these calls.
