Mainstreet Festival Parade Canceled, Festival to Begin at 11 AM Following Propane Explosion

Laurel, MD – May 10, 2025 – The City of Laurel is announcing the cancellation of the Main Street Festival Parade scheduled for today due to a propane explosion at the intersection of 4th and Main Streets. The explosion, which occurred during vendor setup, resulted in one vendor being transported to the hospital for injuries sustained in the incident. Fortunately, no other injuries have been reported.

 Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) crews have secured the area, and public safety remains the top priority. Foot traffic in the area is being rerouted to ensure safety.

 While the parade is canceled, the festival will open at 11 AM as planned. The situation is still under review, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

 The City of Laurel appreciates the community’s understanding and cooperation as we prioritize safety and work to keep the event moving forward.
