Mayor and City Council of Laurel, Maryland
Notice is hereby given that the Mayor and City Council of Laurel, Maryland, a Maryland municipal corporation, will be considering a proposed amendment to the City of Laurel Charter titled:
A CHARTER RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF LAUREL, MARYLAND AMENDING ARTICLE 400 "ADMINISTRATION" OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF LAUREL TO REFLECT THE DISSOLUTION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY RESOURCES AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT (CREM) AND THE ESTABLISHMENT OF TWO NEW DEPARTMENTS: THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND AMENDING SECTION 469 TO REFLECT “DIRECTOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT” AND ADD SECTION 470 “DIRECTOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES.”

The Mayor and City Council held an introduction and first public hearing on the proposed Charter Amendment on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom.
A second public hearing with possible action is tentatively scheduled for Monday, January 27, 2025 in the Council Chambers at the Laurel Municipal Center, 8103 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, Maryland 20707. Additional public hearings may be held by the Mayor and City Council before and/or after the above date. Written documents may be either presented at those hearings or sent to Sara A. Green, CPM, CMC, City Clerk, 8103 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, Maryland 20707.
