Every year for the last 51 years, Laurel Volunteer Fire Department (LVFD) volunteers, along with members from the Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad, the American Legion Post 60 and the Laurel Police Department, have gathered to celebrate, honor and remember those that have passed away on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. 

This year is no exception! Chief Brian Cox, President Vic Whipple and LVFD members cordially invite the public to join us at the Annual Joint Memorial Day Service on Sunday, May 26, 2024, starting at 10:30am.

The service will be held at the Historic Ivy Hill Cemetery, 1201 Sandy Spring Road, in Laurel. 

Prior to the service, we ask everyone to please join us at 10:30am at the American Legion Post 60 Memorial site for the Memorial Wreath Walk. During this walk, each organization will place their wreath at their Memorial Stone, honoring those heroes named on their stones that have passed and proudly served the Laurel community.

Then starting around 11am, the service will begin at the LVFD Memorial Stone. In the event of inclement weather, the service will take place in the Joseph R. Robison Laurel Municipal Center Council Chambers, located at 8103 Sandy Spring Road.
