Permits are obtained by submitting an electronic application on the Permit Portal https://portal.cityoflaurel.org/Energov_Prod/SelfService#/home
The following steps must be followed when using the Permit Portal:
- Create a New Account (click on the Login or Register button) or if you already have an account (sign In through this button).
- After you sign on, click on the Permit button.
- Find the permit that you are looking for and click on the Apply blue button to start the process.
- Fill in all information leaving no blanks.
Usually applied for by a Master Electrician.
After your permit application is submitted, a Department of the Fire Marshal & Permit Services representative will contact the applicant to inform them of what fees are due for the specific type of electrical inspection permit requested. These permit fees can be paid online through the use of the City's Permit Portal.
Note: Applications for City of Laurel Electrical Permits shall be signed by a Master Electrician, who is licensed through Prince George's County. If the Electrical Contractor has not recently applied for a permit with the City, a current copy of the Master Electrician's Prince George's County license will be required with the submitted permit application.
