Street Improvements Project in Laurel

The City of Laurel’s Department of Public Works has begun its annual campaign on Street Improvements Project. The selected streets for this phase include Catalpa Street, Golf Crest Drive, and 5th Street from Montgomery Street to Talbott Avenue. This project may entail concrete sidewalk repairs, curb and gutter repairs, pedestrian ramp upgrades, and roadway resurfacing work.

During construction, access to these streets may be limited. On-street parking will be restricted during the project period for necessary repairs and upgrades. Temporary no parking signs with be posted on the streets at least 48-hours prior to any work being started outlining specific times and dates regarding the restrictions. Cars parked in the temporary no parking areas during the restricted times and dates will be towed at the owner's expense and risk. We appreciate your cooperation by not parking along posted areas during the construction period.

Residents on 5th Street, between Montgomery Street and Talbott Avenue, wishing to have their driveway aprons replaced may request to have it done under this contract at the City’s contract prices. A written estimate and consent form will be provided for those residents interested; and an authorized work order will need to be signed and returned to Public Works prior to the work being performed. You will be billed at the conclusion of the project.

This work is expected to begin in June 2021, weather permitting. If you have any questions or are interested in replacing your driveway apron, please contact Ms. Christy Fang, Assistant Director, at 301-725-0088, extension 3214.
