2021 Calendars are Coming!
The snow is over for now and our Public Works crews are busy delivering the 2021 Public Works Calendars!
What is different:
Yellow bags – residents wanted to know why we printed our calendars on recycled paper but delivered them in plastic bags! Good question – this year the City purchased biodegradable bags. For the composters out there, you can use these to line your kitchen countertop composting container.
You asked and we listened – many, many residents spent part of the quarantine time cleaning… going through closets and downsizing. Public Works received many questions about what to do with gently used appliances and other household items in good condition. In this year’s calendar, we included a GreenDrop handout. GreenDrop will also be participating in our Public Works electronics and shredding events and offers curbside pickups. The City is pleased to include GreenDrop as a valuable resource for “repurpose with a purpose.”
Organics Composting – additional information about participating in the City’s curbside organics composting program is included. The City has expanded the program beyond our 200 original volunteers but participation is still limited – so sign up soon!
What has not changed:
The Public Works Calendar is full of useful information about how to prepare your recycling for collection, residential special pickup and yard debris collections as well as information about what to do with batteries, light bulbs, electronics and CD/DVDs. The calendar also highlights the adjusted trash and recycle schedules when there are holidays or scheduled closures.
The calendar includes many City events including My Time With the Mayor, Mayor and City Council Meetings, Parks and Recreations and Laurel Board of Trade events. If you have a question regarding Snow Emergency Routes, Leaf Vacuum Collection Days, and Recycle/Refuse collection days, you can look up your street in the maps section of the Calendar for answers.
If you do not receive a 2021 Public Works/City Calendar before December 31, 2020 please reach out to DPW in January via email ([email protected]) or phone (301-725-0088) and we will make sure a calendar is delivered to your address!
