It's that time of year again!  Mayor Moe and the City of Laurel are happy to bring you our annual April Spring Clean-Up Events!  During the month of April the Department of Public Works will be holding various events and specials to help our residents clean up their homes!

Electronics Recycling and Paper Shredding

Gather up your old, important papers and old electronics and come down to Public Works, 305-307 First Street, on Saturday, April 20, 2019, from 8:00am to 12:00pm (noon).  Televisions, stereoes, computers, game systems and their accessories can be dropped off free of charge.  If it plays music, video, video games, or an accessory to something that does - it counts!  Things such as microwaves, blenders, toaster ovens and other electrical items that may have a digital display or circuitry are not considered electronics for this event; only entertainment/media electronics will be accepted.

Chesapeake Paper Systems will also be on site with their shredding truck to shred your documents safely.  You can drop your documents off or stand by and watch them get put into the shredder truck!  The shredding truck will accept old X-rays and other film, however it does not get shredded on site.

During this event we will be verifying that you are a City resident or City business so please bring a driver's license or mail addressed to your City business.  Not all addresses in "Laurel, Maryland" are in the City Limits so please verify you live within the City Limits if you plan to attend.  Montpelier, South Laurel, West Laurel, the Russet, and Maryland City are not in the City limits.

The first 100 residents to request a bulk pickup for both our Wednesday, April 10th and Wednesday, April 24th pickups will have the base-fee of $10.00 waived.  Extra-billable items (such as sofas, appliances, and electronics) will still have a fee. Extra Yard Debris Collections on Mondays

Community Dumpsters

Multiple Home Owner's Associations (HOAs) in the City of Laurel will have community Dumpsters available for residents to dispose of their bulky items on select Saturdays in April from 8:00 a.m. until noon.  Each Home Owner's Association will contact their members with information on the specific date and items allowed. To find out if your HOA is participating and what Saturday a dumpster will be present in your neighborhood you can reach out to your HOA directly or call/email the Department of Public Works.

If your community is interested in requesting a dumpster for the 2019 spring clean-up event or future clean-up events please have your HOA representatives reach out to the Department of Public Works at 301-725-0088 or send an email to [email protected] for more information!
