Released on June 8, 2018 - 3:07pm

The City of Laurel would like to announce that the Maryland Department of Agriculture will continue spraying for Mosquitoes this Sunday, June 10th.  The MDA will be focusing on the American Legion, the Greens, and Contee Road Areas on June 10th.  This does not mean they will be only in those areas - residents should be aware of a silver truck with a mist-er on the back.

Spraying will begin after dark and may continue until midnight or later.  The state does not conduct spray activities during daylight hours.  If you see a truck in your community spraying during the day it is not a State of Maryland Department of Agriculture truck.

As a precaution the State advises residents to stay inside of their homes and close their windows while the spray truck is in the vicinity, bring any pets inside, and remain in the home until 30 minutes after the spray truck has passed by.  If there are people outside when the truck passes by no spray will be released and the truck will not make another pass down that street.

The spray schedule will rotate every three weeks.  This means that our communities may not be sprayed each week.  The frequency will be determined by surveillance data collected and complaints received.  In order to determine if your community will be sprayed on its scheduled spray night please contact the Maryland Department of Agriculture Mosquito Control between 2 and 3 PM that day.

For the 2018 spray season our residents can reach out to Ms. Stormy Keyes with the Department of Agriculture Mosquito Control at 301-422-5080 or [email protected].  Our residents can also reach out to the Department of Public Works for the City of Laurel with any questions at 301-725-0088 or [email protected].
