Mayor Moe is pleased to announce the Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) will be spraying for mosquitoes this Sunday, weather permitting.

They will be focusing mostly on the west and south sides of Cherry Lane, but will also spray in the areas of Ashford, Fenwick and off of Montrose.  Residents should be prepared for spraying along Main Street and Sandy Spring Road – from beginning to end.

These areas were selected due to high mosquito counts detected after traps were set out overnight. The threshold is normally 30 or more mosquitoes in an individual trap and those areas get sprayed.

Just a reminder, if you see the silver and black MDA truck with a sprayer on the back – GO INSIDE.  The driver will not spray with residents around. Because it gets dark earlier now, the truck may be in your neighborhood as early as 7:30 p.m.

If you want those pesky bugs to be eliminated, stay clear of the truck, so the crew can do its job.

If you are having a problem with mosquitoes in your neighborhood, or if you’d like more information about the spraying program, please contact Michele Blair, Office Manager of the Department of Public Works at 301-725-0088.
