Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Remembrances in the City of Laurel

Here are key ceremonies, office closures, and schedule changes

The City of Laurel has several key events planned to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

  • A wreath laying will take at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in the City of Laurel’s Memorial Garden outside the Laurel Municipal Center at 8103 Sandy Spring Road at 4 pm on Friday, January 13th.  The public is invited to this brief recognition.
  • On Monday, January 16th - all City of Laurel Offices will be closed for MLK Day.  Trash and Recycling schedules will be adjusted.  Schedule changes are attached to this email and at the bottom of this press release.
  • Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service.

The City of Laurel invites you to join us at the Laurel Municipal Center on Monday, January 16, 2023 from 10 am to noon, and volunteer your time and creativity to do something special for our local seniors.

After a short program, we'll be making birthday cards and care packages for local seniors.

***We have some supplies, but still need donations of mini hand sanitizers, mini tissues,

lip balm, travel lotion, word find books, adult coloring books, and 5-packs of colored pencils.
