Today, June 22, 2022,  marks the 10th anniversary of the death of

Lance Cpl. Eugene C.  Mills, III, who was killed in the Line of Duty in

         Afghanistan in 2012.

Mayor Craig A. Moe has ordered that the United States flag, Maryland flag,

and City flags  at all City of Laurel buildings and facilities be lowered to

         half-staff in his memory.

Lance Cpl. Mills was Laurel’s first Hometown Hero to receive a banner that

still flies high on Cherry Lane.  Mayor Moe says the City was “honored to hang

this banner for a beloved member of the Laurel community,” who was tragically

killed while serving his country in the United States Marine Corp.

The flags will be flown at half-staff from 7 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2022

until 7 am on Thursday, June 23, 2022.
