Forecasters at NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center-a division of the National Weather Service- are predicting above-average hurricane activity this year.

The hurricane season runs from June 1st to November 30th, so the time to prepare is now.

The City of Laurel has teamed up with NOAA and the Maryland Insurance Administration to host a virtual hurricane preparedness webinar.

  • Did you know that standard homeowners insurance doesn’t cover flooding?
  • And how many people know that while cell phone calls may not work properly in an emergency, texting might?

That’s just some of the information we’ll be passing along in the webinar which is set for 5 pm  Wednesday, June 8, 2022.
