The City of Laurel Department of Public Works (DPW) has received numerous phone calls about the new Prince George’s County Curbside Pickup Program where two bulky items are able to go out with regular trash.
We want residents and businesses to be aware that currently, the City of Laurel is NOT a part of this program. DPW has formed an internal committee to look at the feasibility of implementing a similar program. Once a decision is made, Public Works will announce it to the residents.
In the meantime, per the current City Ordinance, to request a Special Bulky Pickup, you MUST call 301-725-0088 or email [email protected], by end of business on Monday, before 4:00pm, to have those items picked up on the following Wednesday.
All special bulky pickups have a base fee of $10, which includes many house hold items. To see a list of these items, visit https://www.cityoflaurel.org/dpw/refuse/bulky-items or call 301-725-0088.
Some items do have extra fees that are charged per item in addition to the base fee. Items with an extra charge include:
- major appliances
- electronics
- large furniture
- remodeling debris
When you request your pickup, DPW will ask you about the items you plan to put out and let you know the total cost for your pickup. Remember, they will NOT pick up items with extra charges if you do not schedule the pickup in advance.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
