PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY GOVERNMENT WILL CLOSE TO THE PUBLIC TOMORROW, TUESDAY, JANUARY 4, 2022 DUE TO WINTER WEATHER; COUNTY URGES RESIDENTS TO STAY OFF THE ROADWAYS
LARGO, MD – Prince George’s County government will close to the public tomorrow, Tuesday, January 4, 2022 due to winter weather, to include today’s significant snowfall and the anticipated refreeze to occur overnight. Additionally, the County urges all residents to stay off of the roadways overnight and tomorrow.
“We received a significant snowfall today and one of the main obstacles that our public works and emergency personnel experienced was a large number of abandoned and stranded vehicles,” said County Executive Angela Alsobrooks. “As the temperatures drop through the night, we are expecting dangerous conditions on the roadways tonight and tomorrow. We ask all residents to stay home so that our road crews can plow and treat the roads safely.”
Additionally, the County is working to clear 311 downed trees across Prince George’s.
Non-essential employees authorized to telework during inclement weather must report for telework at their normal time, however, liberal leave is in effect for those employees. Essential employees must report to work on-time as directed by their agency; non-telework, non-essential employees will be on administrative leave.
Additionally, the Prince George’s County Health Department’s COVID-19 vaccination clinics at Prince George’s Community College and Prince George’s County Public School locations will be closed, as well as the County’s testing site at the Bunker Hill Fire Station.
All regular trash and recycling collection services will shift by one day through the end of the week, adhering to the County's new inclement weather policy effective November 2020. Visit bit.ly/pgccollectionweatherpolicy for further details.
TheBus will operate from 12:00 – 8:00PM on a Saturday schedule. Riders should expect delays due to roadway conditions. Dialysis patients should contact their providers directly for instructions. Prince George’s County Call-A-Bus will be providing dialysis trips previously scheduled for January 4. Please reserve 911 for emergency calls only.
The voting center at the Southern Regional Technology & Recreation Complex located at 7007 Bock Road, will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 for the County Council District 8 special election.
