The City of Laurel General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. The election is for five (5) City Council seats: two (2) from Ward 1, two (2) from Ward 2, and one (1) At-Large. The City Council serves a two (2) year term. The Board of Election Supervisors will hold a traditional election with a heavy focus on absentee ballots. Early Voting and Election Day voting will be done in accordance with CDC guidelines regarding Covid-19.
Early Voting – Saturday, October 30, 2021, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Laurel Municipal Center, 8103 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel.
Election Day – Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Polls open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Ward 1 – Laurel Municipal Center, 8103 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel
Ward 2 – Robert J. DiPietro Community Center, 7901 Cypress Street, Laurel
Candidate Registration for the City of Laurel General Election opens on Monday, August 2, 2021, and closes on Friday, September 24, 2021, at 12:00 Noon.
Interested candidates must schedule an appointment to pick up their Candidate Packet by emailing the Clerk to the Board of Elections at [email protected] or by calling 301-725-5300, Extension 2121.
Qualifications: City Councilmembers shall be persons of known integrity, experience, and sound judgment, twenty-one (21) years of age, citizens of the United States, registered to vote in city elections, and residents of the city and the ward for which they seek election for one (1) year immediately preceding the date of their election.
