On Friday, December 18, 2020, at approximately 9:30am, officers from the Laurel Police Department responded to the area of Bowie Road and Buckingham Court, Laurel, Maryland, for the report of a serious motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. 

Upon arrival, officers and members of the fire department rendered aid to the pedestrian who subsequently succumbed to his injuries.  A preliminary investigation revealed that the striking vehicle was traveling northbound on Bowie Road and in order to avoid striking another vehicle, the driver swerved, left the roadway and struck a pedestrian who was on the sidewalk.  The driver of the striking vehicle was not injured.

The Laurel Police Department’s Crash Investigation Team is handling the investigation, which includes determining what factors led to the collision. The victim has been identified and his name will be released pending additional family notifications.
