The City of Laurel will once again participate in the nationwide Wreaths Across America event which is scheduled for December 19, 2020.

Because of the pandemic, Mayor Craig A. Moe wants to let the public know about some

important changes this year to allow us to stay safe as we honor our veterans and their families.

  • This year’s ceremony prior to the wreath laying will be PRIVATE and will NOT be open to the public.
  •  You can watch a LIVE broadcast of the ceremony on December 19th at 10 am on Laurel TV on Comcast Channel 996 and 71, or Verizon Channel 12 if you live in the City.
  • The ceremony will also  be LIVE streamed at www.laureltv.org  at 10 am and you can watch it from where ever you are.
  • You’ll be able to watch the ceremony any time, any place , any day on the LaurelTVOfficial YouTube Channel.  It will be downloaded there immediately after the LIVE broadcast.

If you would like to volunteer to place wreaths at Ivy Hill Cemetery on December 19, 2020, please sign up at www.wreathsacrossamerica.org.   Under the volunteer section, select Ivy Hill Cemetery or put in Laurel’s zipcode- 20707 and pick a group.

A block captain will meet each of the groups in the Laurel Municipal Center parking lot at 8103 Sandy Spring Road at the designated time, and escort you to Ivy Hill cemetery and back—a very short walk away.

Don’t delay. Sign up today. The groups are limited to 25 because of the County’s limits on group gatherings during the pandemic.

Let’s make sure our veterans and their families know that in good times and not so good times our community is there for them.
