Mayor Craig A. Moe was notified by Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) that they will be conducting vegetation management and tree trimming in the City of Laurel in 2021.

BGE contractors will be performing tree trimming on overhead distribution lines, as well as mowing along their transmission line rights-of-way.

BGE uploads their tree trimming schedule onto their website, which can be found at https://www.bge.com/SafetyCommunity/Safety/Pages/TreeTrimming.aspx. This provides a map-based guide to when and where they plan to conduct tree trimming. The schedule is usually added a few months prior to the work to be done.

BGE has an extensive maintenance program in place, which assists technicians to keep the flow of electricity clear for distribution lines. They understand that trees are one of the leading causes of power outages during bad weather, and by trimming these oversized trees and branches, it helps to minimize the chance of a power outage during a storm.

If your property will be affected, BGE will notify the homeowner directly via door hangers and one-on-one conversations. For more information, please call 1-800-685-0123.
