Mayor Craig A. Moe is pleased to announce, that because of your hard work to help slow the spread of the coronavirus and your dedication to help bring the numbers down in Prince George’s County, the Laurel Municipal Center will reopen on July 1, 2020.

Many City employees, who have been teleworking during the pandemic, will return to their offices, which have been sanitized using an electrostatic disinfecting process. Even the ductwork has been sanitized, ensuring a healthy environment for employees and visitors to the Laurel Municipal Center.

When the Laurel Municipal Center doors swing open to the public for the first time since March, visitors will interact with Municipal Center staff via a self-service kiosk. The kiosks are part of our new online program called R.A.P. (Register, Apply, Pay), meeting the needs of the public in a more efficient and safer way for things like permits, business licenses, zoning applications or HDC Certificates, and to register for Parks and Recreation classes and programs, too! And if you prefer, you can R.A.P. from home!

Big changes have also been made in our Passport Office. A new window and speakers have been installed, and we’re moving to an appointment-only system (no more walk-in services). Details on how to make a Passport appointment will be announced on the City’s website soon.

Please be aware that the U.S. State Department is just starting to open up their government buildings and the delivery time for new passports will be extended to weeks. If you are an adult, have a 10-year passport and need to renew, mail it in yourself using the DS-82 application that can be found at the State Department’s website, travel.state.gov, along with more information about how the State Department is handling the passport process during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The pandemic has afforded us an opportunity to usher in new and improved processes that will make the way we do business even better than before. We are excited to bring this new technology and service platform to the residents and business owners in the City of Laurel!  So get ready to LogIn Laurel and R.A.P. with us! El alcalde Craig A. Moe se complace en anunciar que, debido a su arduo trabajo para ayudar a frenar la propagación del coronavirus y su dedicación para ayudar a reducir los números en el condado de Prince George, el Centro Municipal Laurel volverá a abrir el 1 de julio de 2020.

Muchos empleados de la Ciudad, que han estado teletrabajando durante la pandemia, regresarán a sus oficinas, que han sido desinfectadas mediante un proceso de desinfección electrostática. También se han realizado grandes cambios en nuestra Oficina de Pasaportes. Se ha instalado una nueva ventana y altavoces, y nos estamos mudando a un sistema solo para citas (no más servicios sin cita previa). Los detalles sobre cómo hacer una cita con el pasaporte se anunciarán pronto en el sitio web de la ciudad.

Tenga en cuenta que el Departamento de Estado de EE. Está comenzando a abrir sus edificios gubernamentales y el tiempo de entrega de nuevos pasaportes se extenderá a semanas.
