Traffic Patterns for Friday’s Free Food Distribution at

St. Mary of the Mills Church

Mayor Craig A. Moe and Laurel Police Chief Russ Hamill have announced that due to the expected high volume of traffic for the Catholic Charities Food Box Giveaway on Friday, May 29, 2020, starting at Noon, the following is the anticipated traffic pattern for those participating in the event. See the map below for visuals:

• From Route 1, turn onto Route 198 (Talbott Avenue), then turn right onto 8th Street, which becomes St. Mary’s Place and continue to St. Mary of the Mills Church.
• From I-95, take the Route 198 Laurel East exit, then turn left onto 8^th Street, which becomes St. Mary’s Place and continue to St.. Mary of the Mills Church.
• From B/W Parkway, take the Laurel Route 198 West exit and follow 198 all the way to 8th Street, turn right and stay on 8th, which becomes St. Mary’s Place and continue to St. Mary of the Mills Church.

Once you arrive at St. Mary of the Mills Church, 106 St. Mary’s Place, two lines will form - one line will turn right into the St. Mary’s Elementary School parking lot and the other line will turn left into the Keesler Center, 800 Main Street, parking lot.

The following roads around 8^th Street and St. Mary’s Place will be closed starting at 9:00am on May 29, 2020 for the duration of the event:

• 8^th Street and St. Mary’s Place from Rte. 198 to Main Street
• Main Street from 7^th Street to the pool access area
• Montgomery Street will ONLY be open to cross-through traffic, with NO access to 8^th Street or St. Mary’s Place from Montgomery Street
• No parking will be allowed on 8^th Street and St. Mary’s Place from Rte. 198 to Main Street (signs will be posted)

Participants WILL NOT be allowed to start forming lines until 11:00am, due to the limited amount of space around St. Mary of the Mills Church.

Upon arrival at the boxed food distribution station, DO NOT exit your car; volunteers will place food in your vehicle.

Upon exiting, turn right onto Main Street and follow directions to Route 216 to exit the City of Laurel.

Unfortunately, Catholic Charities has advised the Mayor Moe, that walkups cannot be accommodated and you MUST be in a vehicle to receive a food box.

Patrones de tráfico para la distribución gratuita de alimentos del viernes en la Iglesia de St. Mary de los molinos

El alcalde Craig A. Moe y el jefe de policía de Laurel, Russell Hamill, III, han anunciado que debido al alto volumen de tráfico esperado para el regalo de cajas de comida de Catholic Charities del viernes 29 de mayo de 2020, a partir del mediodía, el siguiente será el patrón de tráfico anticipado para quienes participan en el evento:

• Desde la ruta 1, gire hacia la ruta 198 (Talbott Avenue), luego gire a la derecha hacia la 8th Street, que se convierte en St. Mary’s Place y continúe hacia la iglesia St. Mary of the Mills.
• Desde la I-95, tome la salida Route 198 Laurel East, luego gire a la izquierda en 8th Street, que se convierte en St. Mary’s Place y continúe hacia St .. Mary of the Mills Church.
• Desde B / W Parkway, tome la salida Laurel Route 198 West y siga 198 hasta llegar a 8th Street, gire a la derecha y permanezca en 8th, que se convierte en St. Mary’s Place y continúe hasta St. Mary of the Mills Church.

Una vez que llegue a la iglesia de St. Mary of the Mills, 106 St. Mary’s Place, se formarán dos líneas: una línea girará a la derecha hacia el estacionamiento de la escuela primaria St. Mary’s Elementary y la otra línea girará a la izquierda hacia el estacionamiento del Keesler, 800 Main Street.

Las siguientes calles alrededor de 8th Street y St. Mary’s Place permanecerán cerradas a partir de las 9:00 a.m. del 29 de mayo de 2020 mientras dure el evento:

Los participantes NO podrán comenzar a formar líneas hasta las 11:00 am, debido a la cantidad limitada de espacio alrededor de la Iglesia de St. Mary of the Mills. Para asegurar esto, 8th Street y las carreteras alrededor de 8th Street estarán cerradas hasta las 11:00 am.

Al llegar a la estación de obsequios de comida en caja, NO salga de su automóvil; los voluntarios colocarán comida en tu vehículo.

Al salir, gire a la derecha en Main Street y siga las indicaciones hacia la ruta 216 para salir de la ciudad de Laurel.

Catholic Charities ha informado al alcalde Moe que los participantes DEBEN estar en un vehículo y no pueden ingresar al evento a pie.
