Mayor Craig A. Moe and the Department of Parks and Recreation have announced that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Stay-At-Home Order that remains in effect for Prince George’s County and the City of Laurel until June 1, 2020, both the Laurel Municipal and Greenview Drive pools will not be opening this Memorial Day weekend.
It is with an abundance of caution, and in accordance with State and local guidelines, Laurel Parks and Recreation has also decided that pools will remain closed until further notice.
Mayor Moe said, “Our primary goal is to keep the community safe and we believe that this is the best precaution to take for the start of the summer. We will continue to follow the guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Prince George’s County Executive Alsobrooks, Prince George’s County Health Department and the City’s Health Officer. If at any time it’s determined that it’s safe to open pools, with or without limitations, we will be sure to let the public know, so continue to follow our social media platforms and website, www.cityoflaurel.org, for press releases.”
