The coronavirus, social distancing, and stay at home orders have disrupted the way we
interact with each other, especially with our Senior citizens. Many are feeling lonely and isolated.
Mayor Craig A. Moe is starting a new program that will hopefully ease some of that separation
anxiety. It’s called Chat with a Senior Citizen.
Three times a week, we will send out reminders for you to call your elderly relatives and friends at 7:30 pm to check on them and connect.
We are also asking Senior citizens who’d like a call on Sunday nights at 7:30 pm, to sign up for the program.
We’ll have caring volunteers call just to chat and let them know they’re not alone.
If you’d like to volunteer to Chat with a Senior Citizen, or know of an elderly person who could benefit from this weekly call, leave their name and phone number for us at 301-725-5300 x2110. You can also send an email to [email protected].
You may be alone, but you don’t have to be lonely. Sign up today.
