Released on May 21, 2019 - 1:29pm

Mayor Craig A. Moe has announced that City and Passport Offices will be closed on Monday, May 27, 2019, in observance of Memorial Day, which will mean a change in the trash and recycling schedule for that week:

  • Monday’s trash and recycling pickup will be on Tuesday, May 28th (residential and commercial).
  • Tuesday’s residential trash and recycling will be collected on Wednesday, May 29th, with no change to commercial refuse/recycling collection.
  • Wednesday, Thursday and Friday trash and recycling pickups are unchanged.
  • There will be no yard debris or bulky item pickups that week. The next Special Pickup will be on Wednesday, June 5th.

You can schedule a Residential Special Pickup by either e-mailing [email protected], calling the Department of Public Works at 301-725-0088 or you can sign up and submit your special pick up request through the MyLaurel app on the homepage of the City’s website, cityoflaurel.org.

And be aware that due to the Monday closure for Memorial Day, the Mayor and City Council will hold their regular meeting on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at 6:00pm.

Did you know…Officially signed by President Lyndon Johnson as a federal holiday in 1966, Memorial Day was created to remember those who died in military service?

Thank you for your cooperation and we wish you a safe and happy Memorial Day.
