Christmas and the New Year is fast approaching and Mayor Craig A. Moe has announced that City and Passport Offices will be closed Tuesday, December 25, 2018, in observance of Christmas, and Tuesday, January 1, 2019, for New Year’s Day. 

The residential recycling and refuse collections will be adjusted for both weeks as follows:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Trash pickups are unchanged.
  • Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Recycling pickups are unchanged.
  • Tuesday Trash pickup will be on Wednesday.
  • Tuesday Recycling pickup will be on Wednesday.

During both Holiday weeks, there will also be no residential special pickups or yard debris collection. The next scheduled Residential Special Pickup and Yard Debris collection will be on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. You can schedule a Residential Special Pickup and Yard Debris Pickup by either using the Recycle Coach app, e-mailing [email protected] or calling the Department of Public Works at 301-725-0088.

Once the holidays are over, get ready to recycle your live Christmas trees, because Public Works will begin their tree collections on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.
