The Laurel 4th of July Committee is almost done planning their 40th Annual Independence Day Celebration, being held on July 7, 2018, and here’s a handy schedule of the events for the day:

9:00am             - Parade Lineup @ 6th and Montgomery Streets

                          - Antique & Classic cars line up in parking lot behind McCullough Field

11:00am           - Parade Begins, Judging Stand on Domer Ct.

                           - Various Food & Craft Vendors Open for Business through conclusion of the Fireworks;

                           - Car Show Registration at Mulberry Street between Lowes and Holiday Inn Express

12:00pm           - Car Show Begins

2:00pm             - Reading of Parade Awards and Acknowledgements; 

3:00pm             - Field Events begin hosted by Laurel Parks and Recreation;

3:15pm             - Grand Opening, Flag Raising, Pledge and National Anthem sung by Neil Lenet

                          - Invocation by Jacqueline Ringgold Jones, B.S. M.S. M.A. from St. Mark’s United Methodist Church

3:30pm             - Registration for Hot Dog Eating Contest begins

                           - Car Show Ends

4:00pm             - Hot Dog Eating Contest

4:15pm             - ***NEW*** 40th Anniversary Picture Taken on Laurel Lake Field

5:15pm             - Music by Oracle

7:00pm             - Welcome & Introduction of Mayor and City Council

7:15pm             - Acknowledgements & Committee Awards

7:30pm             - Music by Oracle

9:15pm             - Fireworks from the Lake


The Committee is planning on outlining a number 4 and 0 on the Laurel Lake field and they are asking if anyone would like to help fill in the numbers and be part of the 40th Anniversary picture, please be on the field by 4:15pm.

Visitors are also reminded that there will be NO alcohol and NO fireworks allowed. Also, for the safety of your pets, there will be NO pets allowed at the celebration, so please leave them at home.

Mayor Craig A. Moe recommends that you carpool with family and friends and allow enough time to locate available parking.

You are also encouraged to be patient the day of the event and to be considerate of the businesses that are open on July 7, 2018. Thank you!
