Councilmember H. Edward Ricks and Laurel Public Works Assistant Director and Traffic Engineer Christy Fang will participate on a Maryland Department of Transportation/State Highway Administration’s Traffic Impact Study committee.
Gregory C. Johnson, P.E. Administrator of the Maryland State Highway Administration, appointed Councilmember Ricks and Ms. Fang to work on this committee to study impacts of proposed developments on our State highway system and work on methods to bring impacted infrastructure up to standards to meet the additional traffic demands. Councilmember Ricks, who was appointed Co-Chairman, and Ms. Fang will evaluate traffic capacity, signalization and safety issues that could arise from these proposed developments.
The Traffic Impact Study Committee is tasked with identifying traffic operational deficiencies and proposing ways to reduce the severity of queuing, delays, merging and safety issues that come with such developments that could impact traffic in the area.
