Laurel Mayor Craig A. Moe and the Laurel City Council are sending condolences on behalf of the citizens of Laurel to the family of former Clerk to the City Council Kaye M. Sandul who has passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017..

Mrs. Sandul served as the Clerk to the Laurel City Council from January, 1981 until her retirement in December, 1996.  She was the first woman to hold this position in the City's history. 

 During her tenure, Ms. Sandul was among the first Maryland Municipal Clerks to achieve  the International Institute of Municipal Clerks Association designation of "Certified Municipal Clerk".  She was also an active member in the Maryland Municipal Clerks Association. 

While serving as Clerk to the Laurel City Council,  Mrs. Sandul served eight City Councils and four Mayors.  She administered eight City Elections, and attended approximately 700 meetings. She was a member of the City's Senior Management Team. 

 

 Mrs. Sandul received numerous commendations and letters of appreciation from Mayors, Councilmembers, and Citizens.  She was highly regarded by her co-workers ,the people she served, and the Citizens of Laurel.  

Mayor Moe has ordered the City flag to be flown at half staff until funeral services for Mrs. Sandul  have been completed.
