Laurel City Police Department is investigating a pedestrian stuck by a vehicle, which resulted in a fatality. The incident occurred at approximately 6:49 A.M. on today's date at the intersection of Route 197 and Route 198. The investigation so far indicated the pedestrian was riding a bicycle and rode across Route 198 not utilizing the crosswalk and was struck by a 2002 Toyota Corolla traveling west on Route 198. The driver of the Toyota identified as Loretta Houston of Gambrills, Maryland had a green traffic light according to witnesses when the collision occurred. The victim was transported to Laurel Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The victim was identified as:  Jose Sotto Marquez, Age 31, Of the 8800 block Hawthorn Lane in Laurel

At this point of the investigation no charges are pending against the driver of the Toyota.
