Mayor Craig A. Moe and City Council President Fred Smalls have announced that the City of Laurel will be sponsoring its first electronic recycling and a paper shredding event on Saturday, April 19th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Municipal Center. This event will be for City residents only. Participants will be required to show proof of City residency.

The Department of Public Works will be on-hand to assist City residents to recycle their unwanted electronics. Recyclable items include: computer monitors and CPUs, CD/DVD/VCR players, radios, printers, keyboards, etc. Televisions will be accepted at a fee of $10 per television. This event sponsored by the Mayor Moe and the City Council will be free for all items except televisions. Only cash will be accepted for the $10 television recycling fee.

Mayor Moe thanked Council President Smalls for spearheading and organizing the event. Mayor Moe and President Smalls believe that this, along with other recycling events the City has planned, will greatly enhance resident awareness and participation in the City
