The Laurel Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Friday May 16, 2008. The purpose of the checkpoint is to raise the level of public awareness and inform citizens about the efforts that are being used to identify and apprehend impaired drivers. City of Laurel Mayor Craig A. Moe and Laurel Police Department Police Chief Dave Crawford agree the way to reduce injuries and deaths is to remove drunk and impaired drivers from our streets.

The sobriety checkpoint will be operational between the hours of10:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. in the 700 and 800 blocks of Talbot Avenue.
