Mayor Craig A. Moe and Chief of Police Dave Crawford are pleased to report the successful apprehension and capture of a violent offender in the city. On Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at approximately 10 A.M. the Laurel Police Department responded to the 14000 block of Baltimore Avenue for a report of an armed robbery of a Brinks Armored Truck. Officers arriving on scene discovered the Brinks Armored Truck was conducting business in close proximity to the Hooters Restaurant in the Tower Plaza shopping center.

Laurel Police Officers arrived quickly and set up a perimeter around the crime scene and the outlying area. Witnesses report a black male approached the Brinks truck, sprayed mace in the security officer
