Mayor Craig A. Moe and Police Chief Dave Crawford announced that in an effort to reduce the number of accidents, injuries and death, Officers of the Laurel Police Department will hold a Sobriety Checkpoint on August 8, 2008 beginning at approximately 10 pm.
The area of enforcement will be the 200 block Second Street. Mayor Moe and Chief Crawford agree that alcohol is one of the contributing factors in motor vehicle accidents across the Nation which results in serious injuries and death not only to the operators driving under the influence but innocent citizens as well. Chief Crawford stresses the danger of people who drink alcohol and drive, often think they are not doing anything wrong and they can drive safely. Statistics shows not only are they wrong they can be dead wrong. For additional information contact Sgt. Pat Bray at 301-498-0092.
