Mayor Craig A. Moe has announced that the City of Laurel Department of Community Planning and Business Services will enforce State of Maryland House Bill 401 passed into law on May 8, 2007. House Bill 401 states that Carbon Monoxide Detectors are required in all new dwellings constructed, utilizing appliances that rely on fossil fuel to operate, for which a building permit is issued on or after January 1, 2008.

Mayor Moe stated the City is pleased to support the State in its efforts to provide safe homes for everyone.
