Mayor Craig A. Moe has announced his reappointment to the National
League of Cities Public Safety and Crime Prevention Steering Committee.
The Steering Committee is an important component of the NLC that has
the responsibility to research agenda topics chosen and draft policy
positions for policy and advocacy committee review. The Public Safety
and Crime Prevention Committee is responsible for policy in the areas
of crime prevention, corrections, substance abuse, municipal fire
policy, juvenile justice, disaster preparedness and relief, homeland
security, domestic terrorism, court systems, and gun control.
Mayor Moe said he was indeed honored to serve on such an important
committee. He said his extensive public safety background has provided
him with the experience and expertise to provide meaningful insight and
assistance to the Steering Committee. Mayor Moe added he looks forward
to participating in the shaping and developing of national policy for
municipalities on important public safety and crime prevention topics.
Mr. Scott Hancock, Executive Director of the Maryland Municipal
League, expressed the League’s congratulations to Mayor Moe on his
reappointment to the National League of Cities, stating that “ On
behalf of the membership and staff of the Maryland Municipal League, I
would like to congratulate you on your reappointment to the National
League of Cities Public Safety and Crime Prevention Steering Committee.
Please accept the gratitude and appreciation of the League for the work
you do with NLC and this committee, and for your willingness to serve
the interests of your Maryland constituents in this capacity.”
Mayor Moe will be attending the National League of Cities Congressional City Conference in March.
