Mayor Craig A. Moe has announced that the
City of Laurel has designated the month of April as SPRING CLEANUP
MONTH. The City sponsors this annual cleanup campaign to encourage and
assist Laurel citizens in removing accumulated trash and in sprucing up
the appearance of the City’s neighborhoods and streets.
The City will increase the yard debris collection service to every
Monday and Wednesday during the month of April. Residential special
pickup collection will be available every Wednesday. Arrangements for a
special pickup of bulk trash and yard debris can be made by calling the
Department of Public Works at (301) 725-0088 or by e-mail:
[email protected]. The deadline for scheduling a Monday pickup is the
end of the day Thursday, the deadline for scheduling a Wednesday pickup
is the end of the day Monday.
Mayor Moe has also announced that instead of having a one-day
Electronics Recycling Event the City will provide the FREE electronics
recycling service to the Special Pickups for APRIL. Residents will need
to notify the Department of Public Works if they have electronics to be
recycled when they call in for a pickup.
THE CITY OF LAUREL IS WAIVING THE $10 BASE FEE FOR SPECIAL PICKUPS
FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL 2009. ALL OTHER FEES ($10/$15/$20 EACH FOR LARGE
APPLIANCES AND LARGE PIECES OF FURNITURE, AND $10 EACH FOR TIRES) WILL
REMAIN IN EFFECT DURING THIS PERIOD. AS ALWAYS, THERE IS NO FEE FOR
YARD DEBRIS PICKUPS.
