Mayor Craig A. Moe would like to take
this opportunity to recognize another one of the City of Laurel’s
outstanding volunteers who is also an employee. Kay Harrison has been a
member of the City of Laurel’s 4th of July Committee for 30 years,
serving as Chairperson for the past 2 years. She is also the Office
Manager in the City Administrator’s Office.

Kay’s mission for this group is to “show pride for our Country” and
have the best celebration with the safest fireworks and she has
fulfilled that goal in her role as Chairperson. This year’s past event,
which was held on July 4, 2009, was one of the best celebrations ever.
The parade was outstanding with more participants and spectators, the
Car Show brought out 85 superb automobiles, the field was crowded with
vendors and spectators and the fireworks were more awesome than ever.

Kay credits this year’s successful event on the outstanding
efforts of the Committee members because each of them did their part
and did it extremely well. It is definitely a team effort, but one that
would not be as effective without Kay’s leadership. Her dedication and
knowledge has inspired all the members to do their very best, the
results being obvious if you were able to attend this year’s 4th of
July Celebration.

The Mayor thanks Kay for her years of service to the citizens of
Laurel and urges you to give her a pat on the back for a job well done
if you see her.

     Thanks Kay!
