Mayor Craig A. Moe would like to take this opportunity to recognize another one of the City of Laurel’s outstanding volunteers. Al Burley is currently the President of the Laurel Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (LCPAAA) and has been an active member of this group since its inception in 2002.
Al has been a member of the Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad for 36 years and is a life member of that organization. His background is in the military and other management positions which make him an ideal candidate in leading an organization such as the Laurel Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (LCPAAA). Al is currently a member of the City of Laurel’s Training Committee, another duty he is well suited for. Additionally, Al is a charter member of the City’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
Al’s goal for the LCPAAA is to continue to expand the membership of the Laurel Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association whose primary function is to assist the members of the Laurel Police Department in parking enforcement, park patrols and traffic control. This program allows our police officers to devote more time to other critical enforcement duties.
The Mayor thanks Al for his years of service to the citizens of Laurel and recognizes that Al is an outstanding individual and the City of Laurel is lucky to have him volunteering for us.
