Mayor Craig A. Moe is pleased to announce that the City of Laurel has lit the Christmas Tree located at the corner of C and Main Streets. The lighting coincided with the conclusion of the December 4 Holiday Parade and lighting ceremony held at the Laurel Anderson-Murphy Community Center.  The added bonus of this year’s tree lighting is that the Kluckhuhn family has donated 3,000 of their lights to adorn the City’s tree.   These lights previously illuminated what has become known as the “Big Laurel Christmas Tree”.

Last winter’s storms did irreparable damage to the Kluckhuhn Christmas Tree on Brooklyn Bridge Road. Richard Kluckhuhn recently announced the tree will have to be taken down.  This brought sadness not only to Laurel residents, but to people far beyond the City who have very happy memories of the Kluckhuhn Christmas Tree. The Kluckhuhn family has donated the tree lights to the City to help ease the sting of this great loss.

Mayor Moe expressed the City’s great pleasure and gratitude to the Kluckhuhn family for their generous donation of lights to help brighten the holiday season.  Mayor Moe invites everyone to visit Main Street to view the beautiful display of lights at C Street.

Mayor Moe wishes everyone a joyous and safe holiday season.
