Mayor Craig A. Moe would like the residents of Laurel to know that due to the freezing temperatures and loss of power to certain areas around town following yesterday’s winter storm, the City of Laurel has opened the Robert J. DiPietro Community Center, 7901 Cypress St., as a warming station on January 27, 2011 between the hours of 10:00am and 10:00pm. BG&E has told us that they anticipate having the power returned within the next 1 – 2 days. The Community Center will provide water and light snacks. If necessary, the City will open the warming center tomorrow, January 28. If you have any questions, please call the Department of Parks and Recreation at 301-725-7800.
