Mayor Craig A. Moe is pleased to announce that the Maryland Senate and House of Delegates approved $300,000 in Bond funding for the City of Laurel during the 2011 General Assembly Session.  This funding is for use by the City for Capital Projects and not for the City’s Operating Budget.

The Senate approved a bill for $200,000 for continuing the renovations at the Laurel Armory Anderson-Murphy Community Center, which was sponsored by Senator Rosapepe.  The House of Delegates approved $100,000 in funding for the construction project at the Community Meeting Room at the Barkman-Kaiser Public Safety Complex, which was sponsored by Delegates Frush, Barnes and Pena-Melnyk.

Mayor Moe stated “The City is very fortunate to have received these funds from the State this year and will continue to put this money to good use for the community of Laurel.  We greatly appreciate the hard work of the 21st District Delegation – Senator Jim Rosapepe and Delegates Barbara Frush, Ben Barnes and Joseline Pena-Melnyk, who worked closely with Team Laurel and the Mayor and City Council to secure these funds.”  Mayor Moe also extended his appreciation to Ms. Lou Ann Crook and Ms. Kimberley Rau for their assistance and hard work during this year’s General Assembly Session on behalf of the citizens of Laurel.
