Mayor Craig A. Moe has announced that the City of Laurel’s mosquito control program has begun.  The program is administered by the Maryland Department of Agriculture – Mosquito Control Section.  This year’s program emphasizes mosquito management (larviciding), adult mosquito surveillance and possible spraying.  The Department of Agriculture’s trucks will be in Laurel on Sunday’s beginning at 8:00 p.m. and continue until 12:00 a.m.  The spraying will concentrate on the Patuxent River area and Main Street, due to the high volume of mosquitoes already counted in the traps, spraying in these areas will start on Sunday, May 22, 2011.

If you have any questions or would like to report a mosquito problem in your area, please contact Michele Blair at the Department of Public Works at 301-725-0088, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. or by e-mail [email protected].

Thank you for your cooperation and we wish you a safe and mosquito-free summer.
