Laurel Police Chief Richard McLaughlin and Mayor Craig A. Moe are pleased to announce the closure of a Cold Case Homicide investigation by the Laurel Police Department.

In October 2009, the Laurel Police Department was notified of a check on the welfare call at a residence in the 16000 block of Dorset Road.  Upon their arrival, they found the deceased resident, who was later identified as Anthony Sparacino.  This incident was ruled a Homicide.  A lengthy investigation was conducted by members of the Laurel Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division.

As a result of the investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained on July 20, 2011 for Clark McKnight charging him with first degree murder.  Mr. McKnight is currently incarcerated in a federal correctional institution on unrelated charges.

Chief McLaughlin announced that he is very proud of the work that the men and women of the Laurel Police Department have done and continue to do to protect the Laurel community.  Mayor Craig A. Moe announced his praise and appreciation to the men and women of the Laurel Police Department for their dedication and diligence in solving criminal cases.
