Mayor Craig A. Moe and Marty Flemion, City of Laurel’s Emergency Services Director, in conjunction with Patriot Day, the 10observance of 9/11/01 and FEMA’s National Preparedness Month, invite the public to the Laurel Municipal Center for a preparedness evening on Thursday, September 8, 2011.
 
The City of Laurel’s First Responders, members of the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department, the Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad, CERT, the Laurel Citizens Police Academy Alumni, Amateur Radio, the CrimeLine and Pet Preparedness groups will be on hand with preparedness/safety information and static displays of their equipment. Each group will have a table and members available to answer questions. There will also be tables demonstrating “Make a Kit”, “Make a Plan” and “Be Informed”.
 
6:30 PM                     Light refreshments will be available.
7:00 PM                     Mayor Moe’s Opening Remarks.
7:15 PM                     Dedication to all veterans and first responders of a piece of “9-11 Steel” received from “Ground Zero” in New York
7:30 to 8:00 PM      Preparedness presentation in the Council Chambers.
